Caitlyn Pyle is one of the most notable people that I know of to create her own proofreading business. She’s been proofreading for over a decade and makes a full-time income only proofreading part-time.
She felt the urge to help others learn to become successful proofreaders like her, even as beginners. Caitlyn has a FREE workshop so you can learn all the skills you need to start proofreading as a freelancer. The workshop is full of great information that people usually make you pay to teach you.
You can find proofreading jobs that pay $20 or more per hour on sites like Flexjobs, Upwork, Scribendi, and Fiverr.

You don’t necessarily need a college degree for this job, although many have some sort of accounting or finance background.
Some duties may include recording transactions, debits, and credits and verifying receipts. In some instances, you may even prepare invoices and handle payroll. A bookkeeper’s duties all depend on the company’s needs, so tasks can vary. Just know that it will mostly include finances.
You can quickly find jobs like this on Flexjobs, Zirtual, Fiverr, and Upwork.

If you are exceptional in a particular subject, you can tutor students that need your assistance. The best part is that you need not meet them at your local library to work together. You can tutor them online. This is a great way to make $20 per hour or more. Some well-known companies I love include:
This is an online English Second Language (ESL) company that pays you $16-20 per hour to teach English to non-native speakers. Of all the ESL companies out there, this company is overall the best. They have a highly inactive platform that requires no props, they have a phenomenal cancellation policy, and they are very teacher-oriented and understanding. I love this company.
You can tutor from anywhere you have internet access. They send the students to you and you get paid weekly. Tutors earn $20 per hour and over $1,000 per month.
Work anywhere, anytime, as much as you want. With this platform, students ask questions and you can offer to help them. Tutors earn an average of $500 per week. You could far exceed that if you decide to work more!
5.4 Manhattan Prep
This company tutor students in preparation for tests like the SAT/ACT, LSAT, GRE, and several others. The pay is ridiculously luxurious. At $106 – $116 per hour PLUS year-end bonuses, you could make a hefty piece of change each month working for this company. Hours are flexible, with as few as 3 hours per week.
Magoosh is another online test prep company for the GRE, GMAT, SAT, ACT, and many more. Pay is $22.50 per hour for email and chats support. GRE tutoring is $33.50 per hour and GMAT is $38 per hour. So, if you are someone who excelled at exams like the ACT, SAT, TOEFL, etc., you have a Bachelor’s degree, and you can work at least 15 hours per week, then this may be a great opportunity for you.
ETS will hire you as a “rater” to score test-taker responses and/or to other work submitted online. (Yes, I know this isn’t quite tutoring). ETS administers and scores over 50 million tests in 180 countries, so there is no shortage of exams!
